Why do people think of sleep when they think of hypnosis?

Well, in fair part it’s due to a guy called James Braid (1795-1860). Braid was one of the first people to attempt to scientifically analyse what the old time mesmerists were doing, and he intitally conluded that it was all about a special state of ‘nevous sleep’ (Braid was the first person to use the English language term “hypnotism’).

Braid’s early ideas caught on (in part due to their propogation by the Nancy School of Hypnosis) – so well, in fact, that his later ideas on hypnosis largely got ignored.

You see, Braid changed his mind about the whole ‘sleep’ thing and later concluded that hynosis was about something very different…

Monoideism!

The wrapping of the mind around a single idea, to the poit where the personal reality of that idea manifest.

With this video, we unpack a simple and highly effective approach to a classic hypnosis arm levitation induction utilising Braid’s concept of monoideism.

This rendering of the psychology of hypnotism allies with the Hypnosis Without Trance approach taught in depth in the Hypnosis Without Trance Hypnosis Mastery Programme.

Included in this video are a number of subtleties that apply cross-contextually to any hypnotic work! So get in there and get mining!

STOP PRESS: I have had too many great applicants for the Power of 8 group, so I have decided – rather than turn good people away – to open a second group (the two groups will run concurrently). This means that there is now an additional opportunity to get on th Power of 8 as group 2 has some space! Go here to find out more!
