At the UK Hypnosis Convention this weekend, when one of the presenters brought up Milton H. Erickson, it came with the caveat:
“I know Erickson gets a lot of bad press these days, but…”
Some were surprised to hear this but I was not, as I have read a lot of critique of Erickson going around on forums lately, based upon watching old crackly videos or evaluations on various book renderings of his ‘techniques’.
But for me, I rather suspect that by focusing in such areas people (even those who are big Erickson fans) are most likely missing what truly made Erickson great… his ‘secret ingredient’.
