Arm Pull ‘Induction’ – Handling Subtleties

This is another video sharing some handling subtleties around a classic ‘rapid induction’ – this time we are looking at the Arm Pull!

The arm pull is a nice induction, but how you pull the arm is important! Also covered here are essential aspects of ‘health and safety’ relating to this approach.

This video is compiled from material taken from the Hypnosis Without Trance Rapid ‘Induction’ Ritual DVD/Instant Download Video programme, which is now publicly available from the Hypnosis Without Trance shop.

Yep, one of my hobby horses this one. I actually have a very good (stage hypnotist) friend who is old school, in the way of the heavy arm pull akin to the ‘ZAP’ DVD of Hon Wong/Gordan Fang. He simply insists it’s ‘better’ even if I reveal to him that ‘pulse’ (good new term for me) you talk of James.
But he admits that it’s not just about hypnotising the spec. Rather it is literally in HIS programming to continually PRESENT the hypnotic induction to the onlooking crowd/audience. A bit like Harry McGuinnis’s THRUST induction. Not dangerous at all but I’m told it gets him lots of friends?
Anyway: as opposed to the ‘Rip Pull’, the ‘Pulse Pull’ seems right to me:)

      You and me both Bob!

I edited my ‘zap’ bashing rant out of this post 😀 (but it’s still intact in the Rapid ‘Induction’ Rituals programme).

And considering things from an aesthetic perspective, IMO a pulse looks better than a pull, because a pull looks like it relies more on the physical (because it IS so much more overtly physical) than a pulse.

      All the very best

I see your workshop coming up in a few months:

    “Conversational Belief and Worldview Change”

James, do you really believe that’s possible?

Btw I hope it is included in the Covert & Conversational Hypnosis Set BUT at the same time…I hope that set isn’t too far away 😀

    Jack.

      Hi Jack

Do I believe it is possible? Why would it not be?

Conversations are one of the primary means through which our beliefs and worldview are influenced. Combine this with the fact that people are continually revealing their world views every time they speak, and you have a very powerful medium through which to facilitate change.

      All the very best

Thanks for your response James. It’s brilliant that you do reply to comments here – makes such a difference to some places where the admin is some distant far-off object!

What I will say is, take religious or political convictions. If somebody is not interested in changing them, could ‘covert hypnosis’ (a term which, I believe – and I’m sure you believe too, but correct me if I’m wrong – is plastering a label on what is just deliberate, intentional, refined everyday influence (and no need for ‘trance’)) facilitate those changes, leading the other person to believe it was their own decision with no aid from the person doing the influencing?

I love your thoughts James – and I’d LOVE a reply to this 😀

        Thanks,
        Jack

          Hi Jack

My answer here is “possibly”… But it won’t necessarily be a quick and easy job!

The kind of belief and worldview change I will be covering in the workshop will be about working with those who have some motivation to change (because they are dissatisfied with some aspect of their lives).

When someone is totally shut down, it is much more difficult to influence them. The trick is to open them up first. Find leverage points and tap into motivation. You also may be in conflict with other influences upon them, so would have your work cut out in that respect.

In everyday life, I mostly use influence (‘conversational hypnosis’) skills to influence peoples decisions rather than deeply held beliefs and world views. The latter stuff I keep for Changework and coaching contexts only (both formal and informal).

          All the very best

          James

Thanks James. Humans really are interesting and often times influence seems ‘hit or miss’ – who knows what kind of stuff the person’s processing on unconscious and conscious levels to work out whether to ‘buy’ what you’re saying or not? And as always you are giving people tools on this site. Tools they can use like Paul McKenna or like Adolf Hitler! And that’s the way all life works, really…that’s the reality of things.

Very good work James. When can we expect to see your self-hypnosis set?
