Driving Change with Hypnosis

VIDEO BELOW – Creative Daydreaming, Hypnotic Phenomena and Content Free-Changework

Coming Soon: CREATING INSTANT CHANGE!

Changework. Hypnotic Changework. It’s true to say that not everyone who starts out with hypnosis is into the changework side of the art, but it is interesting how many people end up there. This is essentially what happened to me – I started out with hypnosis simply because I wanted to become a better influencer and communicator, but over the years found myself doing more and more changework… and it is truly fascinating! There is nothing like engaging with the challenges of changework to sharpen your skills with hypnosis and hypnotic communication.

Now, some people seem to make the transition to changework fairly easily with very little formal training – they start doing a little bit of suggestion based work, maybe learn a few NLP change patterns and just learn as they go. Others, however, seem to get stuck in a loop of going on various trainings but never really ‘crossing the threshold’ and doing anything in terms of changework. What often happens with the latter group is that they get mired down with too much technique, but have no criteria by which to make useful choices about what to actually do. Too many tools, too little knowledge of how people are patterned and how they change.

But the truth is, change is simple and ALL changework techniques work. The art, of course, is making them work!

When it comes to driving change with hypnosis, too many people think that it is enough to know techniques – magic techniques that you apply and they make magic happen – but those who are really artful know about people and they know about change. Because without sufficient knowledge of how people organise their realities and what needs to happen to shift that organisation, all you really have is the equivalent of throwing mud and seeing what sticks.

And there is nothing wrong with that; all the best changeworkers start out that way… but they are also open to learning about people and change, and over time they do.

The video clip is from a demonstration showing how I used to elicit hypnotic phenomena as a vehicle for changework, within the frame of creative daydreaming.  In the clip, you see some of the creative daydreaming framing, followed by an imagination game that leads into a hand-stick and arm levitation… which I am using as a vehicle for some broad content-free change patterns.

Now, this is not a piece of changework – it is a demo showing how some ideas can be used in the context of changework! Had it been a genuine piece of changework, you would have seen a suggestion sequence that was much more extensive and individually tailored to fit the client, and a whole bunch of ‘conversation’ around the process that would have been every-bit as much a part of the changework as the ‘formal hypnosis’ shown in the clip, but the clip is useful nonetheless in that it illustrates some useful frames and processes.

I hope you enjoy the video, and if you would like to know more about Creating Instant Change, you may be interested in the forthcoming webinar series where I will be sharing much of my best material around Creating Instant Change with Nathan Thomas of Keys to the Mind.

Thanks for that James that was Cool. It had alot of cool ideas apart from the change work stuff which is great it had a lot of cool ideas for simply getting people into the your game. Starting with your simple conversation about hypnosis and using all the confusing hand gestures going into the simple imagination of moving the apple which by now they are quiet deep and primed for some phenomena awesome.

Great video, really loving your work at the moment.
Some people do “covert” hypnosis, I specialise in “covert” youtube watching at work. At least when I get fired I’ll have some awesome skills to fall back on 😉

😀 THAT I can relate to! I spend my last year in a ‘proper’ job doing something pretty similar (and I wrote Hypnosis Beyond the Trance Myth at work too :-D)

      All the very best

Hello James: This was very useful, as always. What I thought was an important lesson was the use of imagination (with the apple) inducing further hypnosis by having all of the young man’s senses: tasting the apple, seeing it move, seeing the color, tasting it. Awfully good. Russ

Ye one question James why do you say ” which is taken away” just after you mention that you use the line ” if its anything at all”.

      Hi Macka

I believe I say “which is a take-away”. I’m referring to a concept sometimes referred to as ‘push/pull’ where you go in one direction, then another, then back the other way, and so on. It is done subtly enough not to be outright contradiction, but it serves to keep the client metaphorically ‘off balance’, which tends to make them easier to lead.

      Hi There

Create Instant Change is a joint production between Hypnosis Without Trance and Keys to the Mind. Due to the nature of the agreement with KTTM, I am not in a position at the moment to offer it for sale here (though I may look to re-negotiate that soon), and currently KTTM do not have it for sale.

      Best,

      James
