Quick Stick… Unpacked!

Those who have been following this blog from the start (or those who have been back over the archives) may remember a short clip called ‘Quick Stick’, showing a very rapid impromptu hand locking effect. Well recently I received a request by email to unpack that piece and explain a little of what is going on!

And here it is (the original demonstration is included)… hope you enjoy!

P.S. If you are interested in learning how to get hypnotic phenomena without trance induction, there are still some places available on the August London training!

Hi James, yes I liked the latest clap-clap handstick you posted. I got a lovely 86 year old lady (watched by her 12 grandchildren) standing there screaming with laughter (although some of the kids looked terrified). I did it in the middle of a pat-a-cake pat-a-cake bakers man routine.
Of course, interestingly enough, her name seemed to go as the hand unlocked (ahem!)and even more strangely when her name came back her octogenarian legs wouldn’t function either.
All great fun. Many thanks and I do hope you’re keeping well. Hope to bump into you again soon.
    Regards,

Thanks James for putting this video up. Ever since I first saw this on youtube I was interested in how quick the phenomia was produced. The implacations of this make my mind spin in a positive loop. I also think that the ending part of it were you start suggesting and pressing different parts of his hand with your natural showmanship has a powerful effect of confusion and meaning making as the mind creates some meaning to it all. I think that part in particular is nessacerry for more then just look and should be done neatly and purposefully
as you so elequently and masterfully do it.

    Thanks

      Hi Macka

I am a big fan of communicating on all levels, and the non verbal stuff is all happening for a reason. Many people who learn hypnosis seem to hold themselves back from using ALL of themselves to communicate, and my recommendation is always to open up fully… thinking about it, I may do a blogpost on this very subject!

      Thanks Macka!

  • Hi James cheers for all the emails and blog posts I have found them useful and entertaining. One of your videos where you were working with a gut addicted to heroin where the hand drifts down finding the desire for a fix gets less. I work part time as a carer and used the technique on a care client with cancer. He was in great pain when I arrived to get him up, as he had not yet had his morphine injection when I arrived. I mixed it in with a couple of NLP bits and got him out of pain it took about 4-5 mins, he’d been in pain for about 5 hours before I had arrived. Fortunately I’d seen it the night before. So a big thank you for posting that one

James, I continue to be amazed with your concepts of Hypnosis Without Trance theory.. I’ve had your program for only a couple a months now but been studying Hypnosis for just over 2 years and I just got to say, I love your methods of establishing Trance with such simple and easy to learn “Techniques” that can work on just about anybody in the right context..

I just have one question for ya.. During my never-ending research on the subject I came across an old forum where you posted about Covert Hypnosis and how you were thinking about doing a Course on it. I think I even seen something about it on here as well.. Anyways, my question is.. Why don’t you? Your an amazing teacher, very clear and to the point and I think with your methods and understandings, you would have one amazing course that I would be glad to pay for.. With your way of teaching and your use of NLP & Hypnosis, I know your course would be GREAT!

Covert Hypnosis is something I’ve been studying quite religiously for only 2 years now.. and even though there is acouple good courses out there, they are very few and far between.. And ever since I came across your website and bought HWT ..and now know your true love for CH.. I’ll be waiting impatiently for the news on your newest course.. Covert Hypnosis Without Trance. 😉

Anyways, keep up the good work.. This is one of the few sites I check up on regularly, mainly cause all the good information you post so freely.. Great Site!

  • Hi James, thanks and once again such a simple yet powerful technique that as you say can be the way into other hypnotic experiences.

    Hi James,

I have been following your blog and have your homestudy courses and think they are top notch, thank you.

I was wondering after watching the quick hand stick video if firstly how could you use the energy frame with other phenomena and also could you do the quick hand stick with a group rather than an individual?

    Thank you again

    Mike

      Hi Mike

I have used an energy frame around all kinds of stuff, one of my current favourites being ‘postural sway’ (culminating in knocking the person back into their chair with an appropriate hand gesture).

You can translate from sticking, locking and physical movement stuff into other things simply by saying something like…

“memory can affect how your thoughts flow and how your mind moves too”

…then moving to amnesias and hallucinations.

Glad to hearyou enjoyed the Hypnosis Mastery Programmes BTW!

      All the very best

Hi nice video werent kidding about being quick, but anyways I was wondering if its possible to interupt the rubing of the two hands (I”m guessing thats a poattern), does that creat the right conditions like the interuption of the clasp or does the clasp have any special function olther than being a “complience test”
    Thnx 🙂
