Hypnosis VERSUS Trance

As I am typing this, the Hypnosis Without Trance blog has been up and running for nearly 6 years. And if you have read the short ebook Hypnosis Beyond the Trance Myth, you’ll know something of the origins of the Hypnosis Without Trance concept.

When I first showed up with this concept, there was a lot of pushback from the ‘hypnosis world’ and I ended up in a lot of debates as to whether trance did or did not exist, if ‘it’ did, what was it (and what wasn’t it), whether it was the same as or different from hypnosis etc.

Much of the confusion in these debates came from the old trap of ‘confusing the map for the territory’ – confusing words for the infinitely rich reality they attempt to connect us with. With this video I want to point towards some distinctions regarding ‘hypnosis’ and ‘trance’ that I think are interesting and useful.
